ReplyDeleteIn general, the film is good. At somе point, I feel the fear and anxiety of the main hero, but it's good that everything ended at a happy end. The film is 1999, but comparatively with today's technologies, special effects of those times don't lag behind. Actors also played each role very well and were able to show the whole character of their hero. I like all the protagonists and everyone in their own way, but the most of all, Eve. Evelin is a smart, acclaimed and very courageous girl, who goes to her goal. I think not everyone could sleep at night after meeting with Mummy. Also, this film was distinguished by its sense of humor. Therefore, I will probably watch this movie over and over again.

DeleteIt is hard to say how did the film make me fell because I have never seen it before. In my opinion, it's hard to make a right decision about the film you have seen the first time especially if it was divided into several parts. But in general, I like it! The plot and the scenery were great. Comparing to the movie "Mummy 2017", where during the movie you can lose the essence of it.
ReplyDeleteEverything that I have expected from this film was in it. But the most I liked special effects in it ( In my opinion, for 1999 they are great).
My favorite character is "The man in black"))). I just can't remember his name. I don't know why he is my favorite character)). Maybe just because he is brave, brutal and just...there is something interesting in this character.

DeleteI think "The Mummy" is a great film. It is interesting and funny. When I say interesting, I mean the interesting adventures and mysteries faced by the heroes of the film. This is not a detective film, but I liked to thought with characters about the mysteries of the city of the dead. If I were younger, I would have afraid of this terrible mummy and heaps of beetles. But now it isn't a problem.
ReplyDeleteTraditionally, film have an philosophy line. "Mummy" loved Anck-su-Namun ( oh this Egyptian names >.<). They could not be together, but Imhotep kept love through time even after death. This means that love has no time limits. Also there is a character named Benny. He was a liar and did everything for his own good. In the world will always be someone such as Benny. The main thing to understand is that if he lied once, he would lie another time, despite of the fact that the main characters have saved him many times.
My favorite character is Mummy. I think he was a nice guy. He could have been a nice guy, if he had not want to sacrifice all whoever he seen. Perhaps if there had another way to revive Anck-su-Namun , he wouldn't have behave so aggressively.
At the end of this review I should say that I enjoy film very much and it is really truth.

DeleteTo my mind "The Mummy" is great film, and I am sure many people agree with me. Box office of this film is $415 millions, it was one of the highest rate in XX centery. So, about this film. First part may seem a little boring, but actually it show you the whole story from the very begining. Plot is really interesting, it has two storyline : the Mummy's objective - resurrection of Anck-su-Namun and development of love relation (as usual) between Evelyn and Rick O'Connell. Moreover, this film contain many funny moments : big amount of joke, actions of different people and the best moment - white cat-guargian. My favourite character is Rick, he is brave, kind, he has sence of humor and during the whole film defused tensions using funny phrases. I 'm strongly recommend to watch this film, if someone hasn't seen it yet. You will really enjoy it. It's worth it.

In the middle of film he said something like this : "I kept my end of the bargain" and said that he doesn't want go with her. Then he understand that she won't give up and he have no choise. I think that if he help her, he is kind, overwise he can just leave her. But maybe KIND is not the best word...

Name 'Mummy' taked from older imperators daugther of Egypt - only from her XXI century body. Aspect of 'evil' from film is presented as main problem in our world. 'Evil' is such as ill for normal human, it can be proved with professor's strange transformations after not-taking some
ReplyDeletestrange medicament. Main hero in film is a random choosed human for role of Seth to make mummy more powerful. Mummy is searching some knife or dagger what will make her strengther after killing main hero. Main hero can't defeat her without dagger with ruby(also is part of dagger what will be searched). Mummy is so powerful creature, so she can only neutral after taking her to capsule fulled totally with mercury. Soundtracks don't so good as I expecting from teaser. Actor's play is different and I can't say fully who is the best. On my mind only professor is main idea of film, because his company is searching and making neutral or destroy 'evil'. Main hero is only 'casual walker' what get the power of Seth, but lost mainly his humanity, but he remembers past actions, professor's sayings and 'sucks' life power of mummy.
So on my mind film is good, but he has plot 'holes', but for history lover film is excellent. So expecting to see you in Monday against!

DeleteAs I haven’t seen this film fully yet and missed last classes(yea-yea, lazybones), I can’t answer on any of this questions except one. My favorite character is Sun. It always shine bright like a diamond(is it rihanna reference?) and give happiness to everyone around. During film it helps main characters to see what happens around and warm them up on all the way. Also, it can burn people with sun rays, like laser.

DeleteIn my opinion, “The Mummy” is excellent and interesting film. There are a perfect combination of humour, adventures, fantasy and what not. While watching the movie, I felt different emotions: happy, exiting and even afraid (in some moments).The movie by Stephen Sommers "The Mummy" has outstripped special effects many other blockbusters, for several years ahead. Music in the film fine and attracting. It is ideal and good for this film.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite characters is Evelyn. She is the adventurer, the librarian and the hunter behind treasures. Evelyn is naive, ordinary, but on the other hand, she is very clever and read and isn't afraid of dangers. I would like to add that “The Mummy” is really worth for watching the cast, the music, the plot and all the rest. And I strongly recommend to watch it if you haven’t done it yet.
I remember being terrified when I first watched this when I was just a kid. But now I think "The Mummy" is a film that is easy and fun to watch. This is the definition of an adventure film. It has a few genuine jolts and the plot unravels throughout, in a good way, making this a very easy to watch. Simply everything fits into place, with Fraser leading a great cast and assuming his role of a modern Indiana Jones, to a villain who you really have to take seriously. There is nothing too complex or overdone about it, which is kind of what I was hoping for, but there are no real stakes aside from seeing if our main characters make it out alive, which in the end does not really matter. They all pull of ridiculous stunts, making for a very far-fetched film. Some times, it feels like a cheap rip-off of "Indiana Jones", but other times, its fairly enjoyable. Besides all that, the film is well written for what it is, and put together very well. For it's running time, I was hoping for a little more, but it's a very fun ride!

DeleteI did not watch this film recently. And I did not have time to watch it. Because of the preparation for the Olympics, I did not go to English classes on Fridays. All I could do - read the description and add something of my own. I will watch this movie in future in English. But a couple of years ago I actually watched it, but it's not enough to write an essay.

The idea is that it's a CREATIVE Writing and what is even more important it is YOUR Creative Writing:) So, it's always up to YOU what to write and how to write it ... and plagiarism is hardly a way out of the situation. DeleteIn my opinion, “The Mummy” is a really great film with its interesting plot, amazing characters and ancient Egyptian myths and puzzles. I think I enjoyed all the film. It’s just so amazing to watch it in English! There are several aspects that worked really well. First is humor. Such amount of jokes which were everywhere, even in terrifying situations, made film simple for perception and make you feel relax. Second is of course actors’ acting. They all just got into characters. That’s what makes film so realistic and lively. And third aspect is that we were watching it in English. I have just watched another movie. Honestly, when I have been searching “The Mummy” in Internet and I found out that it was made in 1999, I could NOT believe it! Of course, the special affects weren’t so professional, but it didn’t seemed that this film from XX century. I have two favourite characters – Beni and Omid Jalili(if I wrote it right). Beni is just funny character who made almost all film. I know that he is negative, but I still like him. He can adapt to every situation and there is one of my favourite quotes that according to him “It’s not the strongest species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change”. It’s so sad that he didn’t get by in the end, but it is his fault, he just was so obsessed with gold so… And Omid Jalili reminds me of my dad :D Exactly the same belly and exactly the same snore while sleeping.

DeleteThis film is not new, but really interestning. I like films in this genre. We can see an amazing adventure, there are some humor. I also can say that actors well played their roles, but I didn't watch films in which actors bad played (this is not about new tomb raider of 2018). Next reason to watch this film is a history about ancient Egypt. We could see how it were in ancient time. On my opinion the best character is Evelyn. She likes to search treasures. In film we saw her as librarian and adventurer.

DeleteI've watched this film about 5 times before but I can rewatch it again and again. I think it is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, because I love history of Egypt, its piramide, mummies, pharaons, priests and gods. And all of this is in film. Second, actors did their bests to play their roles. To my mind, they did their work well. And decoration for '99 are good. So film looks very picturesque.
About plot. The main part of the film Evy, Kevin, John and their team are trying to save the world from evil ex-priest who rised from the dead and want to resurrect his girlfriend. Writters show Imhotep as bad guy who is killing and destroying everybody and everything. But I don't think so. He just want to be again with his love. So in my opinion, world is too cruel too him and don't let him be with Anck-su-Namun. It upset me 'cause I really like their couple.
But in general, film is great. And I don't regret that I spend my time to watch it, despite the fact that I needed to wake up at 6am.

DeleteFirst of all, I want to say that I really enjoyed the film. And, to my mind, it was totally worth getting up at 6 a.m in the morning. But to be serious, I think it was a good choice to watch 'The Mummy', because this is the film with spectacular action scenes, impressive special effects and well-designed fight scenes (especially in the end). The script is well-written and the action is fast- it is certainly not a film you can get bored in. I must also add that the plot is dynamic and very interesting (because of its Egyptian riddles and ancient puzzles). So this is one more reason to watch it.
ReplyDeleteI've seen this film in Russian language, but I must admit that in English it's much more better.
My fav character is O'Connell because he's brave, smart and pretty handsome. I also like Evelyn because she's intelligent, temperamental pretty woman. To be perfectly honest, I also like Anck-su-Namun (not as mummy of course) in the second part as she is reaaaaly pretty woman.
Summing up, I need to say that this film is great and I strongly recommend everyone to watch it.

ReplyDeleteOtherwise I wouldn't have gone to the zero lessons with such pleasure :).
The plot was interesting and full of intriguing moments. I simply liked the acting. The actors were very good. Especially I liked Rachel Weisz who played Evy. She was such a cutie and good actress.
Though it is a kind of horror film, it didn't lack jokes which I really enjoyed.
What I also liked about this movie is the moment of justice. Characters who were dishonest were punished. All of them died. For instance Beni who was the unfair person. Somehow I knew from the beginning of the film that he would be punished and I didn't feel sorry for him.
So it was an interesting movie to watch and discuss together. Looking forward to watching more exciting movies together.
Choosing another movie is a real challenge for me now :)

ReplyDeleteI really liked it, in spite of the fact that I saw the movie two times(when I was +/- 8 years old and at the first “Zero Period”).
Did you know that Denys Nikolaevich, starring as, IMHOTEP(that's why he knows history so well, ahaha). In my opinion they are really very similar)).
I must say that key to the success of this film consist in three things: exciting plot, correctly chosen actors and incredible special-effects…
I didn’t liked at "The Mummy" those fact that almost everyone tried to strangle Rick(and no one could) and I didn’t like the fact that Ardeth managed to survive at the end of the film, because it is unreal(and he would have died protecting his “friends” from mummies, sounds cool and brave).
My favorite character is Beni Gabor because he is not like any other in "The Mummy". He's just a petty thief who creates problems for everyone. He is that character who managed to give humor to this film.

DeleteI really like this film. The script is very interesting and fascinating. But I expected that it would be more scary and frightening. I can’t watch horror movies when I alone but I like do it with friends. I like romantic moments in this film and in my opinion Evelyn and Rick are a great couple. Most off all in this film I like the combination of humor and seriousness. Generally I think that each good film should contain a little bit humor in it. And of course my favorite character is Evelyn. She is very ambitious, charming and smart librarian. This girl proved that she worth more and she saved the world from mighty evil. I also like her brother who is harmless and funny character. I don’t like old films (with the exception of “Titanic” of course) but “Mummy” gave me a lot of positive emotions.

DeleteHi! I think teens need a lot of time for sleep so i watched this film at home. And you know what? I feel really happy! And i know that i will be tired because it's almost 12 am, but i don't care, just finished watching it. I have never enjoyed watching films, you know, i prefer TV series because they are longer. But i enjoyed this film very much.
ReplyDeleteReally, it was awesome. Do you remember the mummy's big mouth? It scared me :D. Also i was laughing when mummy frightened of a cat. It is almost night and i am a bit scared but i have my cat near me. And it also enjoyed the film. Or nah. But anyway i feel protected.
Hey, also i enjoyed ALL the characters. Eve and Rick, poor Benny and others. Awwwesome!
And what about drawbacks. I didn't like the sound. But it is the 1999s film so that okay.

Delete"The Mammy" is a great film. I didn't attend all our film-session, so I cannot fully estimate it. But, I think, there are a lot of people who like it.
ReplyDeleteTo begin with, I really enjoy all jokes which I heard in the film. Besides, special effects was fantastic. Although I don't really like old film, "The Mammy" don't look old-fashioned. Also, in this film, there is a plenty of talentalent actors. For example, Brendan Fraser (Rick O'Connel), Rachel Weisz (Evelyn) and John Hannah(Jonathan). But most of all, I like Evy. She is clever, funny and charming. So, how can I don't like her?:)
However, there is some disadvantaged in this film. The plot was predictable and slightly banal. But, anyway, I like "The Mammy". In my opinion, this film is good for one-time viewing on English. There wasn't very hard word in the film and It it was easy to understand all dialogues and the plot.
P.S. I'm very interesting which a film will be next. Maybe, some detective story:)

DeleteI think that the movie "Mummy" is not a bad movie. It has everything that would become a movie for ages. Let's start with the story. The plot is very interesting, has detective elements, mysticism and romance. Personally, I really liked the film because of its interesting outcome. For me, the most interesting character is Jonathan. He is very funny and at the same time quite brave for he helped everyone very much when the mummy wanted to kill Ivi. I think that the film is very good and with an unexpected end. But I still think that "Bandit Petersburg" would have been better.😏
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion "Mummy" is really a great film. From the first seconds you immerse in another world full of mysteries and adventures. The plot of the film is very attractive . It contains two lines-love and adventures. The first is about love of Evelyn and Rick. The second is about their expedition, main target of which is find ancient treasures, but on this way they accidentally revive terrible Mummy, who kills everybody on his way and hunts for Evelyn, in oder to revive his love Anck-su-Namun... The Film tells us an interesting adventure story mixing horrible, fun and romantic moments. In this film also using amasing special-effects for 1999 year and good for nowdays. Actors play is incredible too. What about sounds? So, I didn't pay especial attention to this and it mean that everything is OK. Of course my favorite character is Evelyn because she is gorgeous, clever, elegant but a bit clumsy. I also like the cat very much.

"The Mummy" was stared in 1999.On my opinion it`s a realy good film, if you take into account the fact that this is quite an old movie, graphics, plot and special effects are pretty good.Some moments is funny, some of them maybe scary, but i like this movie because of plot and subjects.

Its realy interesting film.I strongly recommend it for those who like good fantasy!

I liked the film "The mummy" very much. Interesting characters, atmospheric music, amazing scenery make this film excellent. Most of all I liked the character called Rick O Koneul. He is considered to be very courageous and brave. So I'm glad that in this world of cruelty there was a place for love.
ReplyDeleteBut I think that the montage could be better. Especially i liked the decorations. not everywhere you can see so much gold.
Most of all I was fascinated by the scene with the riders and horses. person need to have a lot of experience to manage so many animals. At all i think the film was very good.

Because this subject doesn't my favourite. But if you like ancient times adventures, you will be pleased.
Some words about script and direction. Yea, there is a professional cast, perfect actor play, because is not indie film. But script, like for me, so overworked, especially finall.
Special effects wasn't on hight lever, but we can write off on year of starring.
But for one time looking so good film.
I think that this film deserves 6 part of Imhotep's face of 10
